SERVICES
Three services, each with a clear scope
Choose the one that matches the shape of your inquiry, or ask us and we'll point you to it.
01 — SERVICE
Field Inquiry Preparation
Preparation for reporters conducting an inquiry away from home over several days. Covers planning which approaches happen in what order, arranging introductions properly, carrying and securing documents and recordings, keeping a colleague informed of your movements, and knowing when to withdraw. Practical and specific to the place you are going.
What's included:
- One 90-minute session
- A written preparation plan
- Logistics, contacts and communication arrangements
- An agreed withdrawal point
02 — SERVICE
Note and Recording Integrity
Guidance on keeping field material in a state that supports what you later publish. Covers contemporaneous note practice, recording the time and place of each entry, keeping recordings intact and backed up, distinguishing your observations from what you were told, and storing material so it remains usable months later.
What's included:
- Two sessions of 75 minutes each
- Review of your own working material
- A written integrity standard for future assignments
03 — SERVICE
Multi-Location Inquiry Support
Support for an inquiry that spans several counties or requires repeated travel. Covers sequencing locations so information gathered in one informs the next, managing costs against a modest budget, keeping a single indexed record across locations, and maintaining consistent approaches for comment throughout.
What's included:
- Four sessions of one hour, across two months
- Plan reviewed at each stage
- A location log and a budget outline
- A written coordination note
